Chelsea legend John Terry has named four central defenders—both past and present—whom he considers the greatest in Premier League history.
In an interview with SportBible, the former England captain was asked to select his “Mount Rushmore” of Premier League defenders, and unsurprisingly, Terry included himself in the prestigious list.

Terry singled out Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand, commending his consistency at the highest level and his impressive array of achievements over the years.
“I’m going to go with Rio,” Terry said. “His longevity, playing at top clubs, competing in major competitions year after year, and winning trophies consistently—he had everything. For me, Rio’s 100% in the conversation.”
In addition to Ferdinand, the Chelsea legend also included Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and Arsenal icon Tony Adams in his top four.
Terry, Ferdinand, Van Dijk, and Adams are widely regarded as some of the best defenders in Premier League history, each leaving a lasting legacy at their respective clubs and in English football.
