Former Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo was the victim of a daylight robbery in Barcelona. The Brazilian player, currently on loan to Girona in La Liga from Juventus after a short stint at Liverpool, was reportedly targeted while enjoying some free time in the city.

According to Marca, Melo was shopping and paying for his parking ticket when the incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Passeig de Gracia. A man reportedly jumped off a motorbike, stole Melo’s luxury watch, and fled the scene at high speed.

Two individuals are said to have been involved in the robbery. Fortunately, Melo was unharmed and quickly reported the incident to the police.

Marca also reported that Melo continued training on Friday and is expected to feature in Girona’s upcoming match against Alaves on Saturday.

This incident is not the first time the 28-year-old has experienced a robbery. In 2019, burglars reportedly broke into his home and threatened his brother with a weapon during Barcelona’s 3-0 Champions League semi-final victory over Liverpool. The burglars are said to have stolen valuables, including jewelry and a Rolex watch. Local reports indicate that Melo’s brother was unharmed but was forced to open a safe containing valuables at gunpoint.
