A Kano Magistrates’ Court has remanded a young man, Auwalu Adam, in a correctional facility over his alleged involvement in the killing of his friend following a dispute over a tricycle tyre cover.
Adam was arraigned by the police on charges of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide before Magistrate Sakina Aminu Yusuf.
When the charges were read to him, the defendant pleaded not guilty.
Prosecuting counsel, Barrister A.I. Buhari, asked the court to adjourn the case to allow the prosecution to obtain legal advice from the government.
The magistrate granted the request and adjourned the matter until September 8, 2026, for continuation.
The police alleged that Adam and some of his friends, who are still at large, were involved in the killing of their friend, Aliyu Abubakar Badawa.
According to the prosecution, the incident followed a dispute over a cover belonging to a tricycle, popularly known as Adaidaita Sahu.
Adam will remain in custody pending further proceedings in the case.
