Katsina Police Rescue 11 Kidnap Victims

The Katsina State Police Command has achieved a major success in its ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and banditry in the region.

In a statement issued by the command, it was revealed that a joint security team—comprising Police operatives, the Military, DSS, Operation Sharan Daji, members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), and local vigilantes—intercepted a group of armed bandits during a routine patrol along the Danmusa–Mara Dangeza road in Danmusa Local Government Area.

The security team encountered the kidnappers as they attempted to flee with abducted victims taken from various locations across the state. A gun battle ensued, forcing the bandits to abandon the victims and flee due to the superior firepower and tactical advantage of the security forces.

All eleven kidnapped individuals were successfully rescued—comprising nine females and two males. The rescued victims are:

  • Isah Isma’il (male), Damawa Village, Kankara LGA

  • Zainab Musa (female, 12), Damawa Village, Kankara LGA

  • Jamila Musa (female, 45), Damawa Village, Kankara LGA

  • Abikara Isah (female, 12), Damawa Village, Kankara LGA

  • Shaawa Sani (female, 35), Damawa Village, Kankara LGA

  • Hauwa’u Mujitafa (female, 25), Damawa Village, Kankara LGA

  • Hajara Sani (female, 23), Damawa Village, Kankara LGA

  • Musa Suleman (male, 15), Bakan Village, Musawa LGA

  • Zahariya Nasiru (female, 17), Danmusa LGA

  • Zahara Isah (female, 18), Damawa Village, Kankara LGA

  • Maijidda Fahat (female, 30), Danmusa LGA

The command stated that investigations are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects, as well as to prevent further incidents of abduction in the area.
