Five Nigerian citizens have been deported from Kenya and labeled persona non grata due to their alleged engagement in various criminal activities, notably drug trafficking, within the country.

The individuals, namely Olayiwola Saheed Tunde, Nwosu Prince Chukwuebuka, Ajibade Adewale, Nwanonaku Alexander Odirachukwumma, and Olayiwola Babatunde Akintomwa, were repatriated by the Directorate of Immigration Services on March 18, 2024. A source at Nyayo House disclosed to Citizen Digital that some of these individuals had reentered the country unlawfully even after being previously deported in 2023, posing a nuisance to both the public and law enforcement authorities.

Tunde, identified as a notorious drug trafficker, was found to be residing in the country illegally, while Chukwuebuka was apprehended in possession of 1 million dollars in counterfeit currency, alongside 11 counterfeit Nigerian passports and 3 forged Kenyan passports. Adewale and Odirachukwumma, recognized as prominent drug dealers, were also residing in Kenya unlawfully. Akintomwa, besides his involvement in drug trafficking, was known for his participation in online fraudulent activities.

Furthermore, the Immigration Department revealed that Nigerian nationals previously deported from Kenya have relocated to neighboring Tanzania, where they persist in coordinating criminal operations within Kenya, collaborating with local counterparts.
