The abductors of six Nigerian Law School students have reportedly demanded ₦20 million for each victim, totaling ₦120 million in ransom.

The students were kidnapped by armed men on Saturday, July 26, 2025, while traveling from Onitsha, Anambra State, to the Yola campus of the Nigerian Law School in Adamawa State. The abduction took place along the route between Wukari in Taraba State and a section of Benue State.

The students were en route to resume academic activities after their court externship break, with classes scheduled to restart on Monday.

The victims have been identified as Rev. Ernest Okafor, Ogbuka Fabian, Nwamma Philip, Okechukwu Obadiegwu, Obalem Emmanuel, and Obiorah David.

According to a fresh update, the kidnappers have established contact with the victims’ families and colleagues, demanding ₦20 million per student for their release.

A student at the Yola campus, Chisom, shared her initial disbelief upon hearing the news. “We heard the news this morning (Sunday) that some of our classmates were abducted. I didn’t want to believe it, so I started calling them. Three of their numbers were off. When I finally got through to one, he screamed that he had been kidnapped and asked a colleague to send ₦20 million for his release,” she said.

She also mentioned speaking with a fellow student in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, who had already been informed by the wife of one of the victims and confirmed the incident occurred in Benue State.

A student leader at the Yola campus, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident had been reported to the Adamawa State Police Command. “We are waiting for further updates. As of now, there is no concrete information,” the student said.
