The Airport Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old suspect, George Ikpe, over the alleged theft of high-value equipment from his former workplace, an IT solutions firm.

Ikpe was apprehended on April 3 by operatives of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Police Division after an intelligence-led investigation.

According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Mohammed Adeola, preliminary findings showed that the suspect unlawfully accessed the company’s premises along the Murtala Muhammed International Airport axis and stole critical equipment. CCTV footage from the facility reportedly captured his movements and helped confirm his identity.

The stolen items include two custom-made Vovida Central Processing Units (CPUs) valued at ₦10,357,000 and a high-end printer worth ₦4,715,000, bringing the total value of the stolen equipment to about ₦15,072,000.

Further investigations led to the recovery of the CPUs after the suspect provided useful information. However, the printer had already been sold before his arrest. Ikpe reportedly told investigators he carried out the theft in retaliation for the termination of his employment.

Police say he will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
