
A man has been arrested after being found in possession of suspected human parts while travelling along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
Operatives of the Federal Highway Patrol in Oyo State intercepted a commercial vehicle during a routine stop-and-search operation, where they recovered a red cloth containing bones and other items believed to be parts of a human corpse concealed among passengers’ luggage.
The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Ibadan on Sunday, January 18.
According to the statement, the driver of the vehicle, identified as Kazeem Ayegbo, was travelling from Lagos to Osogbo when he was apprehended near Guru Maharaji Village along the expressway.
Osifeso said investigations have commenced to determine the origin and intended use of the recovered items, noting that inquiries have been extended beyond Oyo State to track down all individuals linked to the incident.
He added that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, assuring residents that the case is being handled with professionalism and diligence.
