The Ondo State Police Command has arrested Eze Elechi Amadi in connection with the brutal murder of his 18-year-old younger brother, Otu Ifeanyi, reportedly over a financial disagreement involving ₦20,000.
During a press briefing on Friday, September 5, the state Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, revealed that on August 26, 2025, around 3:00 p.m., a resident named Oluwafemi Oladipupo of Paragon Street, Kajola, reported a suspicious blue plastic drum tied with a black rope found outside his home.
“Upon inspection, authorities discovered the lifeless body of Otu Ifeanyi stuffed inside the drum. Amadi was attempting to dispose of the body using a motorcycle when the drum fell off during transport, leading to his immediate arrest,” the Commissioner explained.
The corpse has since been deposited at the morgue, and investigations are ongoing.
During interrogation, Amadi confessed to the murder, alleging that his younger brother unlawfully transferred ₦20,000 from his bank account.
“The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation,” Lawal stated.
In addition, the Commissioner highlighted the arrest of 99 other suspects across Ondo’s 18 council areas, linked to crimes including murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, drug possession, and theft.
Lawal credited the success of these arrests to the effective collaboration between the police and local communities, urging residents to continue providing timely information to aid law enforcement efforts.
