Manchester United have added another big name to their midfield, sealing a £36m move for Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa.
The 29-year-old Belgian has penned a five-year contract at Old Trafford, making him United’s second midfield signing of the summer. He follows Andrey Santos, who joined from Chelsea earlier in the window for £50m.
Tielemans couldn’t hide his excitement in his first words as a Red:

He’s not coming just to make up the numbers either. *“I have had the privilege of experiencing success in the game, and it has only increased my determination to achieve more. United’s director of football Jason Wilcox is equally bullish about the signing, calling Tielemans “one of the most outstanding midfielders in the Premier League” with “all of the technical qualities, ambition and mentality” to thrive at Old Trafford.

Tielemans arrived at Villa Park on a free from Leicester City in 2023. Across three seasons, he racked up 134 appearances and 10 goals, becoming a key part of Villa’s midfield engine.
