Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Operation HADIN KAI, working alongside civilian hunters and members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, have arrested a suspected informant linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram terrorists in Gombi, Adamawa State.

The suspect, Abdullahi Umar, 25, a native of Gwoza, was apprehended on Monday, March 23, 2026, following intelligence reports indicating the presence of ISWAP operatives within the 232 Battalion’s area of responsibility.

Initial findings suggest that Umar was assigned to carry out surveillance on routes leading to military locations, with the aim of identifying possible access points for future attacks.

He is also said to have admitted involvement in a recent attack on troops in Ngoshe.

Umar remains in military custody as investigations continue.
