Military forces eliminate two bandits in Kaduna, seize weapons and munitions.

Troops from 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and Operation Whirl Punch successfully eliminated two bandits during a clearance operation in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 1 Division Nigerian Army, revealed in a statement on Monday, November 12, 2023, that the operation resulted in the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, three AK-47 rifle magazines, five rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition, and two locally made hand grenades.

The statement outlined the ongoing efforts to combat terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements in the North Western part of the country. The joint operation targeted the Juji and Telele-Kaso areas in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Upon encountering the bandits, who engaged the troops with gunfire upon their approach, the military forces demonstrated superior and overwhelming firepower. This led to the neutralization of two bandits, while the remaining assailants fled in disarray.

In addition to the weapons recovered, the troops found four handsets, two motorcycle bearings, spanners, screwdrivers, and two bags.

Major General Valentine Okoro, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander of Operation Whirl Punch, urged the public to continue supporting the Nigerian Army and other security agencies by providing credible information to enhance the fight against terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities in the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
