Military forces successfully liberated a kidnapped woman and apprehended two suspects in Edo.

In Edo State, the Nigerian Army executed a successful rescue operation, liberating Blessing Uwenze, a woman who had been abducted in the Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area. Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, made this announcement in a statement released on Friday, October 2023. The troops also apprehended two individuals associated with the kidnapping group and seized a cache of weapons and mystical paraphernalia.

The statement read, “On the 18th of October 2023, troops from the 4 Brigade, conducting Exercise STILL WATERS III, swiftly responded to a distress call from a law-abiding citizen who reported a kidnapping incident in the Obagie community within the Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.”

The statement continued, “The troops acted promptly, successfully rescuing Miss Blessing Uwenze, who had been taken captive by a criminal gang. Subsequently, two members of the kidnapping gang were apprehended and placed in custody for further investigation.”

The confiscated items from the suspects included 2 Semi-Automatic Pump Action guns, 4 Live Cartridges, a mobile phone, and mystical artifacts.

“The victim, Miss Blessing Uwenze, has since been safely reunited with her family,” the statement concluded.
