Faiza Abdulkadir, a cleaner who returned N4.8 million mistakenly credited to her bank account, has been rewarded with a generous N2.5 million gift from a “good Samaritan.”
The cheque was presented to her on Monday, September 1, in Maiduguri by Aisha Muhammad Aisami, president of the Da’awah Wal Irshaad Women Organisation in Borno State.
Aisami explained that the anonymous donor came across Faiza’s story online and contacted the organization to locate and reward her honesty.
In response, Faiza expressed her gratitude to both the donor and the Da’awah organization, urging people to fear God and respect moral boundaries.
“If you fear God, anything that doesn’t belong to you would not attract you. We should always prepare for eternal life, not be deceived by temporary worldly gains,” she said.
Faiza, who works as a cleaner at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, earns a monthly salary of N30,000 and is the sole provider for her five children and elderly mother. Last week, she also received a N1 million gift, along with food items and vocational equipment, from the Borno State government. The presentation was made by the state’s First Lady, Dr. Falmata Babagana Zulum.
Zuwaira Gambo, the state Commissioner of Women Affairs, praised Faiza’s rare honesty, especially given her financial challenges.
