Cristiano Ronaldo has been named in Portugal’s squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures, with new head coach Jorge Jesus keeping the 41-year-old captain in the team.

Ronaldo has previously confirmed that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be his final appearance at the tournament, although he has not announced when he intends to retire from international football. He would be 43 by the time the next major international competition, the 2028 European Championship, takes place.

The squad is Jesus’ first since replacing Roberto Martinez as Portugal manager. Martinez departed following Portugal’s 1-0 defeat to Spain in the last 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Jesus already has a strong relationship with Ronaldo, having coached the forward at Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr. The duo helped the club win the league title last season.

Portugal will open its Nations League campaign against Wales at home on September 24 before travelling to Norway three days later. They will then face Denmark away on October 1 and host Norway on October 4.
