The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially appointed Finidi George as the interim head coach of the national team, the Super Eagles, for their upcoming matches against Ghana and Mali during the international break.
Following the departure of former coach Jose Peseiro after the expiration of his contract on February 29, the Super Eagles had been without a coach as the NFF searched for a suitable replacement.
Now, the NFF has confirmed Finidi’s appointment as the interim coach of the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming fixtures. The announcement was made via a brief statement on the Eagles’ verified social media handle.
The statement read: “Coach George Finidi has convened a meeting with Super Eagles team officials as he assumes leadership of the Super Eagles for international friendlies against Ghana and Mali #SoarSuperEagles.”
Nigeria is scheduled to play against Ghana in an international friendly in Marrakech on Friday, March 22, followed by a match against Mali’s Les Aigles at the same Grand Stade de Marrakech on Tuesday, March 26.
