Nigeria Customs Suspends 25% Penalty On Improperly Imported Vehicles

The Nigeria Customs Service has announced the suspension of the 25% penalty previously imposed on improperly imported vehicles, in alignment with the directives of the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun. This decision also includes the initiation of a 90-day window, effective from March 4, 2024, to July 5, 2024, for the regularization of import duties on specific categories of vehicles.

In a statement released by Chief Superintendent of Customs National Public Relations Officer for Comptroller General of Customs, Abdullahi Maiwada, on Friday, March 22, stakeholders, including vehicle owners, importers, and agents, are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to regularize import duty payments within the designated 90-day timeframe.
