Nigerian doctors have reacted after TVC reporter Riyah Abdul criticised healthcare workers for embarking on a strike on the day late gospel singer Toluwanisings reportedly slumped and required urgent medical attention.

Recall that on Wednesday, October 14, the late gospel artiste reportedly slumped at his residence in Ibadan and was rushed to several hospitals but allegedly could not receive treatment because doctors were on strike.

The singer’s death sent shockwaves across the country, reigniting conversations about the state of Nigeria’s healthcare system and the impact of industrial action on patients. The striking doctors were reportedly demanding better pay and improved working conditions.

Reacting to the tragedy, TVC reporter Riyah Abdul argued that doctors take an oath to save lives and should uphold that responsibility regardless of the circumstances.

According to her, being a medical professional goes beyond earning a living, as the profession also carries a duty to preserve human life.

Abdul also questioned how the striking doctors would feel knowing that the late singer reportedly died after being unable to access medical care amid the industrial action.

However, some doctors have slammed her for her stance.
