Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said he expects to be among the first politicians targeted if President Bola Tinubu loses the 2027 presidential election to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi.

Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has continued to openly support Tinubu’s re-election bid despite remaining in the opposition party.

Speaking during a media chat, the former Rivers State governor said he was fully aware of the possible political consequences of his decision to back the President.

“I will be the first politician that I think they will come after. I will be the first politician. I know they will come for my head,” Wike said.

Despite the potential backlash, Wike maintained that he remains firmly committed to supporting Tinubu and campaigning for his re-election in 2027.

“Each day I sleep, I am thinking about the President’s re-election. When I am eating, I think about the President’s re-election. Everything I am doing now is about the President’s re-election,” he stated.

Wike also acknowledged that the criticism he has received over his political stance has been unusually intense.

However, he said he was not bothered by the names he had been called or the opinions expressed by his critics.

“I don’t see where anybody in this country today has been called names the way my name has been. I am not bothered about people who say their own thing. My business is, like I said, I am going to support Mr President,” he said.
