Ondo police arrest seven employees over alleged N20m theft from employer’s shop.

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested seven suspects in connection with an alleged conspiracy and theft involving goods valued at N20.45 million from a commercial store in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the case was reported on January 3, 2026, by the store owner, Ogunyomi Segun, a resident of Ore. According to the complaint, the theft occurred between 2024 and January 3, 2026, and was allegedly carried out by some of his employees.

Jimoh said the stolen items included assorted goods such as soft drinks, Trophy cans and other canned beverages, with a total estimated value of N20,450,000.

The suspects were identified as the complainant’s storekeeper, Oyineke Joseph; computer operator, Abioye Yusuf; and another staff member, Abdullahi Quadir. Also arrested were three alleged receivers of the stolen goods—Micheal Njoku, Agu Monday and Ikuemehin Oloruntimilehin—as well as a driver identified as Ojewuyi.

According to the police spokesperson, investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly conspired to carry out the theft and later confessed to their respective roles in the operation.

He added that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
