Parts of Abuja, including the Airport Road and Lugbe areas, have been hit by flooding following a heavy downpour in the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday, September 1.
Videos circulating online showed severe flooding along the affected roads, resulting in significant traffic congestion as motorists struggled to navigate the affected areas.
The incident occurred barely two weeks after parts of the FCT were similarly affected by flooding.
In an effort to tackle the recurring problem, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has commenced the demolition of buildings reportedly constructed on waterways and designated water channels across the territory.
