Petrol prices have risen to as high as N1,430 per litre in parts of Abuja, raising concerns among motorists and residents over the latest increase.
The development followed an N85 increase in the gantry price of petrol by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, from N1,265 to N1,350 per litre, amid rising global crude oil prices.
Brent crude, the international benchmark for Nigeria’s oil, reportedly rose from about $107.92 to $108.21 per barrel, putting additional pressure on downstream operators.
Following the increase, some filling stations across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have adjusted their pump prices, with petrol now selling between N1,350 and N1,430 per litre, depending on the location and station.
The latest adjustment is expected to increase transportation costs and add further financial pressure on households, with motorists potentially facing higher petrol prices in the coming weeks if the upward trend continues.
As of Sunday morning, September 13, some filling stations that previously sold petrol for about N1,350 to N1,400 per litre had increased their prices to as much as N1,430 per litre.
