The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has formally resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His resignation was conveyed in a letter dated December 30, 2025, addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward in Mangu Local Government Area. The letter was personally signed by the governor.
In the letter, Mutfwang expressed gratitude to the PDP for giving him the opportunity to participate in the democratic process. He also appreciated party leaders at all levels for their support and solidarity over the years.
According to the governor, recent political realities and his commitment to purposeful leadership, clear direction, and effective service delivery have compelled him to seek an alternative political platform.
Mutfwang was elected governor in 2023 on the platform of the PDP. He did not disclose the political party he intends to join next.
