Police arrest 25-year-old fake doctor for running an illegal clinic in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly operating an illegal clinic in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect, Idris Nasiru, was apprehended on January 14, 2025, during an intelligence-led operation carried out by the Command’s Surveillance Team. The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday, January 18, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh.

According to the statement, the arrest is part of the Command’s intensified efforts to curb medical quackery and dismantle criminal networks posing risks to public health and safety in the state.

Items recovered from the suspect’s shop include injection needles, medical drips, bandages, and other assorted medical kits. A subsequent search of his residence, conducted with a valid search warrant, led to the recovery of used injection bottles, needles, and syringes.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Nasiru is not a registered medical practitioner, confirming that the clinic was being operated illegally. Police said the suspect has made useful statements and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Commending the operatives for their professionalism, the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, stressed the importance of intelligence-driven policing in combating crime. He reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.

CP Lawal also expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for his leadership and continued support through reforms aimed at enhancing public safety and tackling medical-related crimes.

The Police Command urged members of the public to cooperate by providing credible information and advised residents to exercise caution when seeking medical services to avoid falling victim to medical quacks.
