The command’s spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

According to the statement, officers attached to the Ikpoba Hill Area Command were carrying out a routine stop-and-search operation at Guobadia Junction along the Benin–Auchi Road on May 23, 2026, at about 1:00 p.m., when they intercepted a mini bus transporting seven passengers from the Benin–Auchi Bypass to Ring Road in Benin City.
