Police Intercept Stolen Truck With N30m Goods, Arrest Suspect In Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended a suspected robber for the theft of a trailer truck carrying 35 tons of groundnut oil valued at N30 million.

According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the truck was traveling from Umuahia in Abia State to Kano State when it was stolen from the Maraban Jos trailer park in Kaduna State.

Initial investigations revealed that the truck’s driver had stopped at the park to take a bath, only to return and find the trailer missing from its parked location.

Upon receiving a distress call on April 12, 2024, reporting the theft, the Toro Divisional Police headquarters swiftly responded. They tracked down the stolen truck, intercepted it while heading towards Bauchi State, and recovered both the truck and its valuable cargo.

The arrested suspect is currently in custody for interrogation. The Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, psc, has instructed a discreet investigation by the state criminal investigation department. Upon completion of the investigation, the suspect will face charges in court.
