Prince Harry has officially designated the United States as his primary residence for the first time since cutting ties with the royal family in 2020.

Documents obtained by the Daily Mail reveal that Harry, the Duke of Sussex, recently updated his residential records, indicating that his “New Country/State Usually Resident” is now the US.

While the paperwork submitted by Companies House for Harry’s eco-travel venture, Travalyst, was filed on Wednesday, the duke notably cited June 29, 2023, as the “date of change.” This move coincided with Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, officially relocating from their UK residence on June 28, following their eviction from Frogmore Cottage by King Charles III.

Although it remains uncertain whether renouncing his British residency will impact any of his royal titles, Harry is set to reunite with his father next month during a visit to London.

Despite this legal adjustment, Harry asserted in December 2023 that he still considers the UK to be his “home” but felt compelled to relocate to the US due to safety concerns. He emphasized his desire for his children to feel a connection to their British heritage while ensuring their safety on UK soil, a sentiment expressed during his legal pursuit for taxpayer-funded police security, which was ultimately denied.

Harry has also entertained the idea of obtaining American citizenship but clarified that it is not currently a top priority for him. He and Meghan have resided in California with their two children for the past four years and plan to continue living there for the foreseeable future.

Reflecting on their West Coast lifestyle, Harry expressed his admiration, stating, “It’s amazing. I love every single day.”
