Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, internationally respected evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, has passed away at the age of 80.
The announcement was made in a family statement titled “Glorious Transition,” which confirmed that the revered clergyman went to be with the Lord on October 6, 2025.
“With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the triumphant homegoing of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai,” the statement read. “A faithful soldier of the cross has been called to rest.”
Dr. Ukpai dedicated over six decades of his life to passionate evangelism, dynamic teaching of the Word of God, and prophetic ministry. His impact was felt not only across Nigeria but around the world, as he reached millions with the gospel message and helped shape the lives and ministries of countless others.
He was described as “a spiritual general known for evangelism, a founding father of faith, a loving husband, a devoted father, and a mentor to many.” His life, the family noted, was a living testimony of God’s power, love, and grace.
“While we mourn his physical absence, we rejoice that he has finished his race and is now resting in eternal praise,” the family added, quoting Philippians 1:21: “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
Details of funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.
