The Chief of Staff to President Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has announced that the provisional pay raise of N25,000, initially designed as an intervention for low-grade federal workers, will now be extended to include all categories of employees.

In President Tinubu’s Independence Day address this morning, he revealed that low-grade workers, specifically those in grade levels 1-7, would receive an additional N25,000 on their salaries for the next six months. This measure was introduced to alleviate the economic challenges faced by the workforce following the removal of the fuel subsidy.

Later in the evening, a Federal government delegation engaged in discussions with the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) to explore ways of preventing the indefinite strike scheduled for October 3rd. After the meeting, Gbajabiamila spoke with the press and confirmed that the pay increase would now benefit all workers, irrespective of their grade levels.
