The FCT police successfully intervened in a child trafficking attempt, rescuing 12 children and apprehending three suspects.

On Friday, February 9, around 12:55 am, operatives of the FCT Police Command, specifically the Rapid Response Squad 74 (RRS 74), intercepted Muhammad Isah of Kafanchan, Kaduna, in a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number APP 489 XE. Isah was found transporting twelve underage children – four male and eight female – to a destination later identified as being in Ogun State.

According to a statement released by SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, preliminary investigations revealed that the children, aged between 5 and 16 years, hailed from Akwanga Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, and were being trafficked to Ogun State by Pastor Simon Kado and Jesse Simon Kado, who are currently in police custody.

Adeh further stated that investigations are ongoing, with efforts being made in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Police Command to reunite the victims with their respective families. The Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh psc, mni, emphasized that the safety of residents remains a top priority.
