The Ogun State Police Command, through its SWAT unit, has arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged trafficking of human body parts.
On April 22, officers apprehended Sunday Akintobi, a 36-year-old resident of the Itoku area in Abeokuta. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of two more suspects: 40-year-old Oladimeji Olaniran and 38-year-old Isaiah Tijani.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, a search of the suspects’ residences resulted in the discovery of body parts believed to be human remains. “Cerebral bones were also recovered from a location disguised as a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Kobape town and along Abiola Way in Abeokuta,” Odutola revealed.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to carry out a thorough investigation to determine the extent of the suspects’ involvement in the crime.
