The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the tragic deaths of three siblings whose bodies were discovered on a farm near the Owena Army Barracks in Akure.
The incident occurred on Friday, September 4, 2026. The victims were identified as 11-year-old twins, Joshua and Jacob Jonah, and their five-year-old sister, Blessing Jonah.
According to the police, the children had accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm before reportedly leaving for home. Their father later returned home but discovered that the children were missing.
A search operation was subsequently launched, and on Saturday, September 5, the bodies of the three children were found near the bank of a small river within the farm.
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, has ordered a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the children’s deaths.
The command said it is documenting all available facts and evidence to establish exactly what led to the tragic incident.
The police also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and pay close attention to children, particularly around rivers, ponds, streams and other bodies of water, to help prevent similar tragedies.
