Former Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has dismissed suggestions of a potential return to coach Nigeria again.

Peseiro parted ways with the team at the end of February after his contract expired. He has now refuted reports indicating a swift comeback to manage the three-time African champions.

In an interview with Sports Italia, Peseiro stated, “My tenure with the Super Eagles has concluded. It was a rewarding experience coaching players of exceptional quality, and with my team, we achieved commendable results. However, it’s time for me to embark on a new project.”

The 63-year-old, who previously coached Saudi Arabia and Venezuela, led the Super Eagles to a second-place finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations during his 22-month tenure.

Numerous prominent coaches, including Emmanuel Amuneke, Sunday Oliseh, Finidi George, Daniel Amokachi, and Antonio Conceicao, have reportedly applied for the vacant coaching position.
