On Thursday, July 17, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced that the University of Maiduguri will be renamed to honour the late former president, Muhammadu Buhari.
The institution will henceforth be known as Muhammadu Buhari University, Maiduguri.
President Tinubu made the announcement during a special session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) held in memory of Buhari.
Presiding over the meeting, Tinubu delivered a heartfelt tribute, praising Buhari’s life as one marked by discipline, strong moral values, and steadfast patriotism.
“Before we proceed to prayers in his honour, may we adopt the renaming of the University of Maiduguri to Muhammadu Buhari University, Maiduguri,” the president said, prompting applause from attendees at the conclusion of the FEC session.
