The 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were abducted in Imo State have regained their freedom.

The victims were reportedly travelling from Ibadan to NYSC orientation camps in Abia and Akwa Ibom states when they were kidnapped last Thursday.

The abductors initially demanded a ransom of N50 million for each victim before reportedly reducing the amount to N5 million per person.

The victims were eventually rescued through a joint operation involving the military, Department of State Services (DSS), police and other security agencies. Another hostage was also freed during the operation.

The rescued prospective corps members are reportedly receiving medical attention at the DSS Hospital in Owerri, Imo State. :::
