Tragedy Strikes: The body of the media campaign director for the Bayelsa APC has been retrieved following a boat accident.

In a tragic turn of events, Peremobowei Tobi Tukuwei, the Director of Media and Publicity for the Bayelsa State All Progressives Congress Gubernatorial Campaign Council, has been confirmed to have lost his life in a boat accident.

This unfortunate incident occurred during the campaign visit to Okoroma in Nembe Local Government Area, en route to Ogbia in Ogbia Local Government Area on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. After an extensive collaborative search conducted by marine search teams and relevant authorities, Tukuwei’s lifeless body was recovered late on Thursday.

Before his appointment as the media and publicity director of the state APC campaign council for the upcoming governorship election scheduled for November 11, 2023, Tukuwei had been employed with Africa Independent Television.

In light of this tragic occurrence, the state APC chairman, Dennis Otiotio, announced the suspension of the campaign activities by the council on Thursday.

“The Bayelsa State APC Governorship Campaign Council regrets to announce the suspension of our scheduled campaigns on October 26, 2023, at Nembe-Ogbolomabiri and Nembe-Bassambiri,” he stated.

“This decision is a result of a grievous boat accident that occurred during our campaign activities today. At this moment, one of our key campaign council members remains unaccounted for. We have promptly informed the relevant authorities, and search teams are actively engaged in resolving the situation.

“We will take a day’s break to assess the situation before resuming our campaign activities on Friday in Ogbolomabiri and Bassambiri, followed by our final campaigns in Brass on Saturday and Sunday, concluding the Bayelsa East Campaigns.”
