The Ogun State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has affirmed the victory of Dapo Abiodun in the March 18 election.

The tribunal’s decision comes after a legal challenge by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu. They had alleged corrupt practices and non-compliance with the Electoral Act, as well as contending that Abiodun did not secure a majority vote for his INEC-declared win.

After an 11-hour judgment delivered on September 30, the tribunal ruled that the petitioners failed to provide sufficient evidence to support their claims, leading to the dismissal of the petition.

Furthermore, the court upheld that Abiodun was eligible to represent his party and be declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
