Following his thrilling victory over Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk faces a temporary suspension. Their undisputed showdown saw Usyk nearly flooring Fury in the ninth round, with only the ropes preventing a knockdown. Despite Fury’s recovery, Usyk clinched victory by split decision, marking Fury’s first career loss. Post-fight, Usyk underwent hospital checks, cleared of major injuries despite Fury’s claim of fracturing Usyk’s jaw. The British Boxing Board of Control suspended Usyk until June 2, citing injuries from the bout. Meanwhile, Fury faces no such suspension. Despite the setback, Usyk welcomes a break after a grueling nine-month training camp, which saw numerous postponements. Usyk expressed his longing for family time, having sacrificed significant moments for the fight. However, his reign as undisputed champion faces uncertainty, with the IBF poised to strip him of the title due to contractual obligations for a rematch with Fury, hindering a mandatory defense against Filip Hrgovic.
