The village head of Aujarawar Alkali in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Ahmad Yakubu Ahmad, has been killed by his abductors.

Ahmad was abducted on Tuesday, September 17, 2026, after gunmen reportedly stormed the community at night. His body was later recovered after the kidnappers allegedly killed him.

Funeral prayers for the deceased were held at about 3pm on Wednesday, September 30, after which he was buried.

Musa Garba, a resident of Gezawa, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust in a telephone interview.

According to Garba, the abductors subjected the village head to severe torture, including cutting off one of his legs and tying his hands behind his back.

Garba said the kidnappers later buried Ahmad’s remains in a shallow grave in Danladin Gezawa. The grave was reportedly discovered four days later by residents, who raised the alarm.

“I attended the funeral prayers today (Wednesday) at around 3pm,” Garba said. “The assailants tortured the village head to death by cutting off one of his legs and tying his hands behind him. He was brutalised until he died.”

He added that the abductors buried Ahmad’s remains in a shallow grave in Danladin Gezawa following his death.

“Four days later, some villagers discovered the grave and raised the alarm,” he said.

According to Garba, the remains were identified by Ahmad’s wife and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He said the remains were subsequently buried by hospital officials because they had already begun decomposing.

The police have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
