Mushtaq Ahmed was shot and killed on the evening of Thursday, March 6, in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a province near Afghanistan with a history of sectarian violence.

A Pakistani man, identified only as Ashfaq, has been charged with Mushtaq’s murder, according to police records reviewed by AFP and a local police official.

According to a statement from Mushtaq’s brother, Mushtaq had removed Ashfaq from the WhatsApp group following a disagreement. The two reportedly arranged to meet and settle their differences, but Ashfaq allegedly arrived with a gun and opened fire, killing Mushtaq.
