Former Super Eagles captain and coach, Sunday Oliseh, has advised Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen to make a move to the English Premier League this summer if he wants to maintain his global relevance and keep his career on an upward trajectory.

Speaking in an interview on Lagos Talks 91.3FM, Oliseh praised Osimhen as a major asset to Nigerian football but emphasized that the forward still has areas to improve if he hopes to reach the elite level of the global game.

“I think he [Osimhen] is a huge asset to Nigerian football,” Oliseh said. “But like every top asset, we all have our shortcomings. We must be willing to identify them and work around them.”

The former Super Eagles coach pointed out that Osimhen’s ongoing links to Premier League giants such as Arsenal and Chelsea are a testament to his growing status in European football. However, Oliseh stressed that a move to England would give him the consistent exposure and high-level competition necessary to refine his game.

“If he wants to remain in the global spotlight, he has to go to the Premier League. Nigerians want to see him compete at that level,” Oliseh said. “But to get there and make the most of it, there are still things he needs to change in his game.”

Osimhen recently wrapped up another impressive season with Napoli and remains on the radar of several top European clubs. His next move is considered critical, especially as Nigeria prepares for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
