Lere Olayinka, spokesperson to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called for the review or outright ban of social media platform TikTok.
Olayinka made the call in a post on his social media handles while reacting to the recent arrest of a 36-year-old mother who allegedly used her seven-year-old daughter to create and publish adult content on TikTok for financial gain.
Following her arrest, the woman reportedly told investigators that she had made about $300 from the content.
Reacting to the development, Olayinka called for stronger measures to regulate the platform, including a possible review of its operations or a total ban.
He shared his position on social media while commenting on the alleged exploitation of the child.
