19 children feared killed by measles complications in Adamawa

Nineteen children have tragically succumbed to complications arising from measles in Mubi North Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The state’s Commissioner for Health, Felix Tangwami, disclosed that an alarming 200 children in the local government area have already been infected with the virus.

The outbreak was first reported in Yola on Saturday, April 27, prompting swift action from health authorities who promptly mobilized medical personnel and essential medications to affected communities. Tangwami emphasized that children with severe infections would be promptly referred to hospitals for specialized care.

Furthermore, the medical team is set to extend its efforts from Mubi to Gombi Local Government Area, where another outbreak has been identified. The commissioner attributed the outbreak to the refusal of some parents to immunize their children, highlighting the critical importance of vaccination in preventing such tragic occurrences.
