The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has strongly criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing it as the most damaging in Nigeria’s history and warning that the North could face severe consequences if Tinubu wins a second term in 2027.
Speaking during a broadcast interview, Baba-Ahmed accused the Federal Government of being disconnected from the realities facing ordinary Nigerians.
“The North will be finished if Tinubu wins in 2027. He’s the worst President ever in the history of Nigeria. The problem is the disconnect between the government and the people,” he said.
The PRP chairman also referred to Tinubu’s recent meeting with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
According to Baba-Ahmed, the bishops used the meeting to highlight what they described as widespread hunger, economic hardship and worsening insecurity across the country.
He criticised the administration’s response to the concerns raised by the religious leaders, alleging that the government had failed to acknowledge the severity of the challenges confronting Nigerians.
“Catholic bishops went to the President. These are highly respected people. He must have thought that it would be a good outing for him. Otherwise, he wouldn’t even have agreed to meet them,” Baba-Ahmed said.
He added that the bishops had told the President that Nigerians were unhappy, hungry and insecure, with several problems affecting the country.
“For every issue the bishops raised, the President said, no, you are wrong. I am right. There is no hunger in this country, what you are saying is not true,” he alleged.
Baba-Ahmed questioned the wisdom of dismissing concerns about hardship, arguing that a president should be sufficiently informed about the conditions facing citizens.
The PRP chairman’s comments come as political activities begin to intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
