The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man, Audu Babangida, for allegedly stabbing 25-year-old Haruna Bala to death during a dispute over farmland.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
The incident occurred on Thursday, September 17, at Kafin Sarkin Yaki village in Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
According to the police, a dispute between Babangida and Bala escalated into a fight, during which Babangida allegedly stabbed Bala in the neck with a knife.
Bala was rushed to General Hospital, Kirfi, where he was pronounced dead. His remains were subsequently released to his relatives for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene but was arrested on Friday, September 18, by operatives of the Kirfi Division at River Kafin Iya while allegedly attempting to cross into Gombe State.
Police said the knife allegedly used in the attack was recovered from the suspect.
The command stated that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
