Four people were burnt to death following a collision between two vehicles at Kwaita village along the Abuja-Lokoja highway.
A witness told Daily Trust on Monday, February 24, that the crash occurred at about 4:33 a.m. on Sunday and involved a Toyota Matrix and a J5 Boxer bus, both of which reportedly had no registration numbers.
According to the witness, the accident happened when the driver of the Toyota Matrix, allegedly speeding from the Lokoja axis, drove against traffic and crashed head-on into the J5 bus. The impact caused both vehicles to burst into flames.
The Matrix driver, who was alone in the car, and three passengers in the J5 bus were trapped in the wreckage and burnt beyond recognition.
“Sadly, the driver of the Matrix and three occupants of the J5 bus were trapped after the head-on collision, and the vehicles caught fire,” the witness said.
An official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who requested anonymity, confirmed the incident. He said the remains of the Matrix driver were taken to the Kwali General Hospital morgue, while the bodies of the three other victims were released to their families for burial.
