Operatives of the Western Nigeria Security Network, Amotekun Corps, have rescued five abducted individuals in Ondo State without the payment of a N150 million ransom demanded by their kidnappers.

Commander of the Amotekun Corps in the state, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, during a press briefing in Akure. He said the victims were rescued on May 6 and May 10 through coordinated operations in the forests, in line with recent directives empowering security agencies to intensify forest patrols.

According to Adeleye, four of the victims were kidnapped on May 10 along the Lagos-Ore Expressway at Iromeh, with their abductors demanding N100 million. Amotekun operatives quickly mobilized after receiving a distress call and launched a successful rescue operation.

The fifth victim, abducted on May 6 along the Ikare-Owo Road, was rescued despite sustaining machete wounds. His kidnappers had demanded N50 million. He is currently receiving medical attention.

“We acted on credible intelligence and moved swiftly. Our officers are on 24-hour patrol, and rangers are stationed in the forests to ensure rapid response to any threat,” Adeleye stated.

He reiterated the Ondo State Government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy toward crime, kidnapping, and armed robbery.
