40-year-old man found dead in Bayelsa guest house after alleged sexual encounter

A 40-year-old man identified simply as Felix, said to be from Cross River State, has been found dead in a guest house along Azikoro Road in the Ekeki area of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, following an alleged sexual encounter with an unidentified woman.

The deceased was reportedly discovered naked in a room at the guest house in the early hours of Wednesday, July 8, 2026, after a cleaner raised the alarm.

The woman who was reportedly with him was nowhere to be found.

Eyewitnesses said several sachets of alcoholic beverages were recovered from the room before police cordoned off the area and evacuated the body.

The incident attracted sympathisers to the Seriake Dickson Shopping Complex, where the deceased worked as a mobile phone repairer.

Three people were reportedly taken into custody in connection with the incident, including the guest house owner and the cleaner.

The deceased’s brother, Dennis, was also briefly detained after he was found with Felix’s mobile phone. He was later released after explaining that the device had been handed to him by a phone charging operator when attempts to locate his brother proved unsuccessful.

Police have yet to establish the exact cause of death, while efforts are ongoing to identify and locate the woman who was reportedly with the deceased before the incident.
