The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 57-year-old man, identified as Kadiri Edenokun, for allegedly defiling his six-year-old stepdaughter in Jattu, Auchi.
The command’s spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly confessed during interrogation to committing the offence multiple times.
“The child is currently receiving medical treatment under the care of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Edo State,” the statement said.
The suspect remains in police custody and is expected to be charged to court after the completion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, CP Patrick Daaor, warned that the command would not tolerate sexual violence, particularly offences committed against children.
He urged parents and members of the public to remain vigilant, stressing that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.
