It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of veteran actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu. After a prolonged battle with blood clotting in his leg, Mr. Ibu passed away in a hospital in Lagos state on Saturday, March 2.
Family sources reveal that the actor had been on life support following a recent surgery for his ailment. Despite efforts to stabilize his blood pressure, which had soared to over 200 after the surgery, Mr. Ibu tragically succumbed to his condition this evening. He had been grappling with constant clotting of blood in his leg, as well as other health challenges, for years. In October 2023, he publicly sought financial assistance for his treatment, and although plans were made to fly him abroad for further medical care, his doctors deemed him unfit to travel.
During the course of his treatment, Mr. Ibu underwent a leg amputation in November 2023. He is survived by his wife and children, and he was 62 years old at the time of his passing.
Mr. Ibu was renowned for his exceptional talent in portraying humorous roles in movies, endearing him to audiences far and wide.
